Day 2 | The WHOLE Person Theory

Building a Strong Foundation for Success

Updated over 3 months ago

Part One: The WHOLE Person Theory

It might seem unusual to not begin this program with a sales-focused topic, but there’s a reason behind it. Your greatest asset in business isn’t your product, your service, or even your skills—it’s you.

That’s why we start with one of the greatest personal development philosophies ever created: Dr. Stephen Covey’s WHOLE Person Theory.

With over 15 million copies sold, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People has stood the test of time. Covey’s WHOLE Person Theory, introduced in the 1970s, reminds us that we are multi-dimensional beings, made up of four key parts:

The 4 Key Areas of the WHOLE Person Theory:

  1. Physical Quotient (PQ) – The body’s need is for movement and vitality.

  2. Intellectual Quotient (IQ) – The mind’s need is for learning and growth.

  3. Emotional Quotient (EQ) – The heart’s need is for connection and gratitude.

  4. Spiritual Quotient (SQ) – The spirit’s need is for purpose and legacy.

Each area plays a vital role in your long-term success. Try ranking them in order of importance—it’s nearly impossible because they all matter.

As a WHOLE Salesperson, you must recognize that before you can serve others at the highest level, you must first take care of yourself. That’s why we’ve designed this program to include 90 minutes of personal development within your 4-hour workday time block.

Part Two: Strengthening the Body & Mind

The Body = Physical Quotient (PQ)

“When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, you play good.”Deion Sanders

One of the first things business owners sacrifice is their physical health, yet it’s the foundation of energy, confidence, and performance. If you don’t take care of your body, you won’t have the stamina or focus to build a successful business.

Daily 50-Minute Body Routine (Recommended First Thing in the Morning):

  • 10 minutes – Warm-up

  • 30 minutes – Intense activity

  • 10 minutes – Cool down/stretch

Pro Tip: Listen to a podcast during this time to prepare your mind for the next activity.

The Mind = Intellectual Quotient (IQ)

“Training isn’t something we did; it’s something we do.”Dr. Bruce Lund

Most people consume information without truly learning it. Listening to a podcast or reading a book doesn’t mean you’ll retain or apply it. Learning must be intentional.

Daily 30-Minute Mind Routine (Recommended First Thing in the Morning):

  • 10 minutes – Listen, read, or watch a learning resource

  • 10 minutes – Take notes or journal your key takeaways

  • 10 minutes – Apply what you learned through skills training

Bonus: Turn your learning into content by sharing insights as a marketing activity.

EXERCISE: What are you doing five days a week to invest in your body and mind?

Part Three: Strengthening the Heart & Spirit

The Heart = Emotional Quotient (EQ)

“The number one indicator of success is emotional intelligence.”Daniel Goleman

The heart’s need is to love and be loved. Emotional intelligence is not just about understanding your own emotions, but also recognizing and managing the emotions of others. The ability to build and maintain relationships is a sales superpower. Practicing gratitude keeps you grounded and connected to those who matter.

Daily 10-Minute Heart Routine:

  • 5 minutes – Write down 3 things you are grateful for in your planner

  • 5 minutes – Send a handwritten note or message to appreciate someone

Pro Tip: Running a business can be overwhelming. Practicing gratitude is a simple but powerful way to reduce stress and stay focused.

The Spirit = Spiritual Quotient (SQ)

The spirit’s need is to create a legacy. In business, your database is your legacy—a living, breathing asset that must be nurtured. Most people see their CRM as an obligation, but top producers see it as an opportunity. Managing your database isn’t something you do once a week or once a month—it should be a daily discipline.

Daily 10-Minute Spirit Routine:

  • 10 minutes – Record new leads, activities, and key follow-ups from the day before

Pro Tip: Just as your body, mind, and heart need consistent care, so does your network and business relationships.

EXERCISE: What are you doing five days a week to invest in your heart and spirit?

Final Thoughts: Why This Matters

Most people think success is about grinding harder, working longer, and chasing the next sale. But the real secret is sustainability.

A WHOLE Salesperson understands that long-term success comes from taking care of all four areas of life—Body, Mind, Heart, and Spirit.

By committing to these daily habits, you’ll:

  • Show up as the best version of yourself

  • Build a business that doesn’t burn you out

  • Strengthen your relationships and personal brand

  • Create lasting impact in your career and beyond
